Tampa…wow.

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Yeah, you would think that the header on this one would imply a great time. And you know what, we really did have fun and put on a good show at The Sacred grounds…unfortunately, that was the highlight of the evening. My poor car decided to crap out it’s Timing belt right in the intersection as I was turning around to go to the club. Manny and I managed to get it pushed over to a Mobil station and climb around the thing trying to figure it out (I didn’t find out what the problem was until I got it into the shop). Fortunately, Sanja was in her own car and was able to cram everything in and take us to the venue. Show goes well and so on. We sold some goodies, got a good response and now have our CD’s available for sale there. Yeah! (if you’re in the Tampa area, swing by The Sacred Grounds and pick up a copy). Now, I finally realized that my insurance will cover a tow (good ol’ Geico) and call ‘em up. The guy shows up 3 hours later and tells me that the dealer he has to take me to is the worst one in town. Not a good thing, right? BUT..this dude says “hey man, I think I can help you out.” He makes a few calls and then comes back and tells me that he can tow me all the way to the dealer that’s closest to home at no charge. Cool right? Now, what’s the catch? Nada. I spot him a $20 and we’re back in business. The good thing: Free tow from Tampa with only 5 hours of time wasted. The bad thing: No party at Channelside this go around. :( Oh well. Thanks again to the Tow-guy for hooking me up.

Tampa:Good time or Just Distance?

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Tommorrow is our first show in Tampa. We’re playing at a place called “The Sacred Grounds”. It’s a long drive that’s for sure. But I’m actually looking forward to this. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. Just a nice little acoustic show, coffee brewing and people around watching and talking. I think we’re going to pull a “storyteller’s” kinda’ show, with some talking and telling what the songs are about or what they represent. If you’re around the are, you should come out. It starts at 9:00. I’m sure we’re going to head out somewhere fun afterwards. Maybe down to the Forum area or some downtown action. I think it’s called the Landing or something? I went there when the In-Laws were in town. Loads of fun. And of course, there’s the Casino. ;) Always a good time. Off to work…hope to see you at the show.

Food: broccoli and cheese rice (and some of Lee’s French Fries)

playing in and out, this and that

Last night we played at a place called “Uncle Lou’s”. Most of you may not know where this place is, but let me tell you, it’s not a normal place for a couple of rock bands to play. We played out there with Ryan Winford and another group called Jupiter Groove. We played our acoustic set (actually, we pulled it out of our ass since we haven’t played it since the Legacy show) and pretty much pulled it off. This place is tiny, big-time tiny…but it still turned out kinda’ fun. Of course, I think the highlight of the evening was crossing the street with Dan, Manny and Jason and going to a place of beverage consumption called “Wally’s”. Holy hell!! This place claims the stiffest drinks in town and they are not joking! A vodka/cranberry…normally a pretty light and refreshing drink, right? Not at this place, oh no, this was liquid death. Two of them and I was done. It was a glass of liquor, turned slightly pink on top by a drizzly of cran juice. Poor Manny, he guzzled a Long Island and a “Vodka Rain” and that was nighty-night for that guy. Dan of course was the usual drunk guy with the Whiskey and cokes. Not a one of us made it past drink #2. It was great. If you’re down on Mills Avenue in Orlando and looking to get a good buzz before going out…go to Wally’s. It’s a good time.

Food of the day: Lunch from Chili’s (sandwhich and soup combo)

Lot’s of work

So, I’ve decided that maybe I’ve done enough promo and pushing on this blog for the band. Now, don’t take that the wrong way (especially if there are band-members lurking on here, reading), but what I mean is maybe I should use this space to push a little more of the personal side of things on here. Besides, I won’t get into any trouble if no-one tells right? Okay, so consider this the first installment of what’s going on right now in my little brain-lump. ;)

Well, we’re certainly up and running with this thing. The “AG Train” is moving along the tracks and we’re looking for ways to build a little steam and feed it some coal or fuel or whatever the hell it is that trains run on. (I know, they’re diesel, but still…a little drama please). We’re pushing for online sales (which are actually doing pretty well) digital sales (which kinda’ suck) and of course, discs are available at shows. BUT…what else? There’s something out there that we need to do that we’re not and I’m having a hell of a time figuring out what it is. I want to get things going faster, but I also know that it all takes time. *deep-breath* Yeah, so, I’m think that I want to get people involved in something. That’s right! YOU can give me some ideas. I don’t care what they are, just send ‘em over and I’ll see if we can get something going. A party? A gig? A show? Need us to come over and help you bathe grandma? Paint the cat? Whatever, just spill it.

okay…so here’s the other part that maybe some may find weird or slightly interesting:

Dinner: Shrimp and Broccoli fettuccine (that I cooked, I love to cook, you didn’t know that did you?)
What am I listening to RIGHT now? “The Bends” by Radiohead
