Our First Show.

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Alright…that one’s out of the way. What do I mean? The first show featuring our new drummer, Eric. I have to admit (and it’s okay, I’ve already told the guys this, so you don’t have to run off and taddle on me), I was a little apprehensive and maybe a slight bit nervous going into the show on Friday. It felt (and you might know this feeling if you perform for people) the first show. Not just the first one in a while, but the first one with a new group or the first reading of a play or maybe even the first time you stand up in class and read your report on why carrots are orange and a sickly-yellow. Anyway, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I have to say, though, and I think you’ll agree (because you were there, right? Hmmm?) this guy kicks butt. He’s totally into the music and brings a straight-forward rock sound to our songs. I’m excited and ready to move forward. I feel now that there’s nothing going to stop this machine. Except maybe famine, disease and perhaps the unavoidable attraction to Monopoly. What? Eh..nothing, nevermind.

Anyway, some big ol’ exciting news, incase you haven’t heard. We’ve been selected for TWO (not one, never confuse two for one) battle of the bands. One is being sponsored by the rock station WJRR. It starts tomorrow and will be an online campaign. YOU will have to help us because we can only vote once. We’ll need you to vote and then pass the link around so that all the people that you know with a computer will be able to vote for us as well. Please and thank you.
The second is sponsored by Monster Energy Drink. This one will be based on live performances and a stack of other criteria. This will require you come out to the BackBooth in February and yell at me. You can also yell at the others, but I don’t think they will enjoy that as much as seeing me being yelled at. Come on. I know you want to. It’ll be cheap and early and lots of fun. Plus, you’ll get to hear some new songs. ;)

Oy..that’s alot. Not only ALL of that is happening, but we’ve also got a new President. Not of the fan club, silly, of the Country. I think he’s doing a pretty good job so far, don’t you?

Tomorrow is Monday. There’s much work to be done. I’m going to go and start it now.
Later,
C

up to date, by the way…

You know, I was thinking…we’ve sorta’ kept everyone in the dark about the changes that are going on. It’s hard to keep up with everything. A person doesn’t really realize how busy indie artists are. It starts with the music, obviously. I write a song (or Sanja does) we bring to rehearsal, we play it, change it, vote on it, keep it, toss it..whatever. But it really doesn’t stop there. Not only do we work on the music, schedule the practices, book shows, deal with the promotional people, design artwork, run a website, deal with iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, etc. Recordings, demo’s, Radio, Webcasts and magazines…they ALL want some time. ALL that, damn near every day, PLUS now we get a new drummer on board. You know what that means, right? Re-Design EVERYTHING! Up to and including the music itself. *sigh*. I’m not complaining..really, I’m not. To be perfectly honest, I’m actually pretty damn excited about it. It’s like, we get a second chance, we get to breath a little bit. Put on a different hat and change it up, all under control and perfectly planned. See what I mean? Here’s what’s going on…I can’t help it…I have to leak a little of it out there. Besides, you won’t tell, right? We’ve got the new drummer (Eric, okay..his name is Eric), we’ve got a BRAND NEW website going to take off at the end of the year. This thing will have it all. TONS of goodies and a MILLION ways to get you involved in the band. Not just listening to the tunes and telling your cat how much you like “For You”. I mean, getting INVOLVED! You’ll be wrapped up in just about everything that we do AND it’ll get you all sorts of promotions and special goodies. We’ve got a fully functional newsletter (really, almost an e-zine) coming out every month, we’ve got a full blown TOUR in the works (hear that people…we’re coming to get you!), the limited edition CD’s are almost gone and the last couple of hundred or so are going to contain an AWESOME prize. Some really great shows and promo’s are coming up, including the Video blog that we’ve been talking about. Hang with us, people, it’s about to go crazy. In the immortal words of whoever said it….’stand back…I don’t know how big this thing is going to get’
*breath out*

okay..so it’s just between us, right? ;)

Great time last night!

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Alright, so any of you that came out to the Haven last night for our Rock for Blood event, did we or did we not have a blast! Not only were there some great bands playing, but we collected 38 units of blood! That’s the potential to save 114 people!! I don’t know about you, but I would think that going out, having some fun, listening to some music and saving someones life would make for a pretty good Saturday night, don’t you think? Here’s some great quotes from the evening:

“…and the winner of the $30 in music downloads is….TwatRot!”

“…I got stuck three times, passed out and almost fell down the stairs…give me the damn thing!”

and of course, Manny’s famous joke:

An elephant and camel are talking and the elephant says to the Camel, “Why do you have your tits on your back?”
To which the Camel replies, “At least I don’t have my dick on my face!”

Har, har…I know. That’s what you get when you come to an AG show, right? Non-stop good times.

Now…what do you think we’re going to be up to next? Guess you’ll just have to wait and see.

If you haven’t heard yet, we’ve got a ton of new stuff designed for our store. Go and check it out. Just lick the link below.

Also, if you haven’t heard yet (like, if you’ve been living in a cave or been in outer-space) we’re hosting the Rock for Blood event on Nov.22nd @ the Haven. AND we’ve garnered ourselves a couple of nice little write-ups in Connections Magazine and Out-Impact e-zine. Check ‘em out!

News and something funny…and something horrible!

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

Okay, I know, I know…it’s been a while since I wrote anything, but hey, I’ve been busy! I promise! I’ve got TONS of work done on the Rock for Blood event. We’re pretty much in the homestretch. The bands are picked, the tickets are done (I’ll let you know where you can get them soon enough, so just settle down) and the online ads are up and about. Now we just have a few little things here and there to work out and we’ll be ready! Aside from that, let me tell you what is absolutely hilarious! It happened today at work and I think you all will appreciate the humor.
So, it’s “really busy” at the shop today. (note my sarcasm, please) Dan has decided to bring his pellet gun to work to pass the time. I think it looks like fun, so we go out behind the shop and start shooting at a water bottle. Apparantly, this thing is not all that powerful, so it’s not really going through the bottle when we hit it. It’s my shot and I’m aiming, Dan’s telling me some story about this target thing that he had as a kid and *POP!* the pellet bounces off the bottle and tags Dan right in the side of the face! Of course I nearly passed out from laughter immediately! It was like the scene from “A Christmas Story”. I never thought it would happen in real life. So, needless to say, we put the pellet gun away.
Now the horrible thing. It’s just a little review of this place in Eustis. We’ve been working a new tune and Dan and I got together the other day to work on the arrangement. After we were finished, we thought it would be good to go and grab a beer or something somewhere. We stopped at this place in Eustis call “The Crazy Gator”. DO NOT GO THERE! It was horrible. It was like an episode of the twilight zone, with the empty bar, the same people that are trapped in that weird extra dimension. The waitress couldn’t seem to figure out what we wanted when we told her, the beer was watered down, the chips were stale and there was no atmosphere. No music, not TV sound, nothing. Well, except the rednecks talking and the little mexican baby screaming from the corner. The highlight of the experience came from some huge fat girl nearling busting her ass trying to get off hte bar-stool and nearling pushing Dan out the window. Of course, THAT was funny. The best part was she didn’t really seem to notice us sitting there nor did her Boyfriend even look up when she did it. I laughed hard on the inside.

I’m off for now. I’ll let you know where you can pick up the Rock for Blood tickets.

Should we worry?

Monday, August 18th, 2008

there’s a big storm headed this way, or so they say. It seems that every time I look at the tracking, it’s headed a little more west and a little farther away. The meteorologists down here LOVE to make a big deal out of these storms. I’m sure it’s what keeps them up and “active” at night, if you know what I mean. Crude, I know, but still…I’m sure it’s true.
I updated our website, as I’m hoping you’ve seen. Hopefully, you like it. I’m think that we’re gearing ourselves up to move to that next level. We’re becoming more mature as a band and our sound is getting tighter. The CD is selling well, we’re getting hit up for more shows…now we just have to work on our image a little. I think the black, the weirdness, the depressive tones, work for us. After all, we are “expressing the darker views on reality”, no? :) I think so, anyway.
I’ve been watching a lot of the Olympics, too. I really love the shit out of the Olympics. It just proves to everyone that people can put aside all of their bullshit and come together and play. Why do we wait four years to do this? Why not every day? Maybe not put on the games, but at least get along with each other. It just proves that all the arguing and fighting and such is powered by the politicians and the media. Phooey on them, I say. Everyone just calm down and talk about Michael Phelps some more…then everything will be O-K.

New CD

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

not for us, but I did find a new artist that I like. It’s a singer/songwriter girl out of LA. She’s called Alu, and her new Cd just came out. I can decribe it as a mix of Poe and a Tim Burton film. Imagine that if you dare! Go pick it up..and while you’re out there in Cyberspace, buy our CD too. :) I am working on a pretty major project that I’ll post and hint at as it gets closer. The deal’s not completly closed yet, but I’ll be sure to let you know when it is.

Food: urkey rap
music: Shades of Black by the Raconteurs (great new album as well)

All sorts of goodies…

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

I know I said a while back that I wasn’t going to use this to promote, but we really have some cool news here. First up, we’ve been chosen to compete in the “Next Big Thing” competition, by Alternative Addiction. It’s an online contest hosted on their site, with eleminations every two weeks. The winner gets to be the “Best Indie Band” for a month. At least, the winner get’s posted as such. ;) click on this banner and it’ll take you to the voting booth and VOTE!

ALSO! Second batch of good news…we’re up and online with iTunes, Napster, e-music, Rhapsody and a whole BUNCH of other online dealers. You can now download, review and comment on our music so that the hoards of others who are curious about us can learn and enjoy. Track us down and check us out!

Okay..enough shameless self-promo. Enjoy and have a great day. See you at the show tonight? It’s gonna’ be a good one. We’re sure to tie Manny down, cover him in chocolate and toss him to the highest bidder.

food: coffee!!!

Tampa…wow.

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Yeah, you would think that the header on this one would imply a great time. And you know what, we really did have fun and put on a good show at The Sacred grounds…unfortunately, that was the highlight of the evening. My poor car decided to crap out it’s Timing belt right in the intersection as I was turning around to go to the club. Manny and I managed to get it pushed over to a Mobil station and climb around the thing trying to figure it out (I didn’t find out what the problem was until I got it into the shop). Fortunately, Sanja was in her own car and was able to cram everything in and take us to the venue. Show goes well and so on. We sold some goodies, got a good response and now have our CD’s available for sale there. Yeah! (if you’re in the Tampa area, swing by The Sacred Grounds and pick up a copy). Now, I finally realized that my insurance will cover a tow (good ol’ Geico) and call ‘em up. The guy shows up 3 hours later and tells me that the dealer he has to take me to is the worst one in town. Not a good thing, right? BUT..this dude says “hey man, I think I can help you out.” He makes a few calls and then comes back and tells me that he can tow me all the way to the dealer that’s closest to home at no charge. Cool right? Now, what’s the catch? Nada. I spot him a $20 and we’re back in business. The good thing: Free tow from Tampa with only 5 hours of time wasted. The bad thing: No party at Channelside this go around. :( Oh well. Thanks again to the Tow-guy for hooking me up.

Food: Nothing yet.

Lot’s of work

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

So, I’ve decided that maybe I’ve done enough promo and pushing on this blog for the band. Now, don’t take that the wrong way (especially if there are band-members lurking on here, reading), but what I mean is maybe I should use this space to push a little more of the personal side of things on here. Besides, I won’t get into any trouble if no-one tells right? Okay, so consider this the first installment of what’s going on right now in my little brain-lump. ;)

Well, we’re certainly up and running with this thing. The “AG Train” is moving along the tracks and we’re looking for ways to build a little steam and feed it some coal or fuel or whatever the hell it is that trains run on. (I know, they’re diesel, but still…a little drama please). We’re pushing for online sales (which are actually doing pretty well) digital sales (which kinda’ suck) and of course, discs are available at shows. BUT…what else? There’s something out there that we need to do that we’re not and I’m having a hell of a time figuring out what it is. I want to get things going faster, but I also know that it all takes time. *deep-breath* Yeah, so, I’m think that I want to get people involved in something. That’s right! YOU can give me some ideas. I don’t care what they are, just send ‘em over and I’ll see if we can get something going. A party? A gig? A show? Need us to come over and help you bathe grandma? Paint the cat? Whatever, just spill it.

okay…so here’s the other part that maybe some may find weird or slightly interesting:

Dinner: Shrimp and Broccoli fettuccine (that I cooked, I love to cook, you didn’t know that did you?)
What am I listening to RIGHT now? “The Bends” by Radiohead

b’bye, everyone
