Connection Magazine Interview – February 2011
Sanja Jovanovic (Anyone’s Guess) on state of the Orlando scene

2010 seems to have been a “cleansing” year for Orlando. I am proud to say that I think everyone’s finally taking their head out of their behind and starting to get serious or get out. Just 15 months ago, Orlando was overflowing with bands who thought that playing in a band and playing the same city six times a month is the proven formula to success, resulting in nothing less than a major label contract within six months. No calling/no showing for a gig was to be expected of a band (because after all, you own a guitar, so you have the full right to behave like Axl Rose). And of course [since] they agreed to lay your venue-they need a $200 payment for that. It doesn’t matter that only mom and the bartender were there to see them. It seems like a lot of bands and promotions companies that were in the music business for all the wrong reasons backed out, or fell apart. All rotten apples that are still with us have been spotted-and the legitimate, hard workers seem to be networking with each other, passing on the “blacklist.” This means nothing less than Orlando is back. I think due to this, 2011 will be an amazing year of growth, and I predict that Orlando will soon be back on the map as the city that produces big talent.
